India Finally Beats Australia in an ICC Knockout, Reaches Champions Trophy Final In 2025

India finally broke their losing streak against Australia in ICC knockout matches by winning the Champions Trophy semi-final. Virat Kohli's 84 and KL Rahul's cool finish helped them win by four wickets.

India finally ended their ICC knockout losing streak after winning against Australia, winning the Champions Trophy 2025 semi-final. This was India's first knockout win over Australia since the 2011 World Cup quarterfinal more than 5,000 days ago. 

The match is in Dubai, where Australia batted first and scored 264 runs. Steve Smith (73) and Alex Carey (61) played well, but India’s bowlers, bowled well, and Mohammed Shami (3-48) and spinners bowled very Crucial overs and were restricted to 264 runs.

Chasing 265, India put up a strong fight. Virat Kohli led the way with 84 runs, building an important 91-run partnership with Shreyas Iyer. KL Rahul finished things off with an unbeaten 42, hitting a six to seal the win. India won by four wickets with 11 balls remaining.  

This win is very special for India as it ends years of heartbreak against Australia in big ICC matches. It also sends them into their third straight Champions Trophy final in 2025.
