India started the three-match home T20I series against Bangladesh with a dominant seven-wicket win at Gwalior.

After the Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav won the toss in the night match, he chose to field first. Bangladesh were bundled out for only 127 runs in 19.5 overs. In reply, India chased the target in 11.5 overs after losing three wickets.

Arshdeep Singh provided a strong start

The left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh provided a firing start for the hosts by dismissing both the Bangladesh openers in his first two overs. Parvez Hossain Emon (8) and Litton Das (4) both openers lost their wickets cheaply.

Only two Bangladesh batters managed to cross 20 runs

Indian bowlers dominated in the first innings, as Bangladesh batters had no solid reply. Only captain Najmul Hossain Shanto (27) and Mehidy Hasan Miraz (35 not out) managed to score 20+ runs in that innings.

In the last four overs, Bangladesh scored 16/3, where they failed to hit even one boundary.

While the Player of the Match Arshdeep Singh bagged three wickets (3/14), spinner Varun Chakravarthy also took three wickets for 31 runs in his T20I return nearly after three years. Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya (1/26), debutant Mayank Yadav (1/21), and Washington Sundar (1/12) got one wicket each.

Indian batters stormy reply

In chasing, all the Indian batters had attacking approaches. Opener Abhishek Sharma scored 16 off seven balls (two fours and one six), while his opening partner Sanju Samson scored 29 off 19 balls with six fours. Captain Suryakumar Yadav scored 29 runs off 14 balls (two fours and three sixes) before Mustafizur Rahman dismissed him.

Later, Hardik Pandya’s dominance made the chase more easy. While Pandya scored 39 not out off 16 balls with five fours and two sixes, the debutant Nitish Kumar Reddy scored 16 not out off 15 balls.

In ordinary bowling performances, Mustafizur Rahman (1/36) and Mehidy Hasan Miraz (1/7) managed to pick up one wicket each.
