The toss was won by Rohit Sharma, the Indian captain, who chose to field first after winning the toss. Pakistan had a decent start to their innings and held their own until the fall of the third wicket. Their score stood at 155 when they lost their third wicket, but their fortunes took a nosedive from there as wickets tumbled in quick succession.

From a promising position of 155/3, Pakistan’s innings collapsed to 191/10, as the middle and lower-order batsmen struggled to make an impact against the Indian bowlers. Five out of six Indian bowlers managed to pick up two wickets each, with the exception being Shardul Thakur, who only had the opportunity to bowl two overs. Nonetheless, cricket is a team sport, and the overall team performance was exceptional.

As anticipated, India comfortably chased down the target in just 30.3 overs. Rohit Sharma, continuing his splendid form, provided a scintillating start by scoring 83 runs off 63 deliveries. The skipper displayed his prowess with 6 boundaries and 6 maximums. Opening partner Shubman Gill, although not able to accumulate many runs, played fearlessly, evident from his boundary-laden 16 runs.

Virat Kohli, often referred to as the “King,” had an off day in Ahmedabad as he was dismissed for a mere 16 runs. However, Shreyas Iyer stepped up to the plate, contributing a superb 53 off 62 deliveries, ensuring India’s path to victory remained uninterrupted.
