While India and New Zealand Women’s cricket teams are busy with eight more teams in the ongoing ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), New Zealand Women will travel to India for a three-match Women’s ODI series after the ongoing tournament.
According to the initial plan, New Zealand Women should travel to India for the WODI series in 2023, but it was pushed back due to a busy schedule. From late 2023 to early 2024, India Women were busy hosting one-off Tests against England and Australia along with the white-ball series. Some of the key Indian players were also busy in the Women’s Big Bash League in Australia.

The WODI series will be part of the ICC Women’s Championship
In late October, India Women will host New Zealand Women for the three-match WODI series. Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will host three WODIs on October 24, 27, and 29.
The three-match WODI series between India Women and New Zealand Women will be a part of the 2022-2025 ICC Women’s Championship. While this Championship is a direct qualification part for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 (the top five teams along with the hosts will directly qualify for the Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025), India are in fifth place and New Zealand are in sixth spot.
As India will host the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, they have already secured their place in the upcoming WODI WC. Meanwhile, New Zealand Women are in line for the direct qualification for the next WODI WC.
However, New Zealand Women need to win most of their remaining matches in the Championship to continue their no dependency on other matches.
Indian cricketers will also participate in the WBBL 2024/25
So, we can expect strong squads from both sides for the upcoming crucial WODI series. While the WBBL 2024/25 season will start on October 27, some top Indian and New Zealand players are likely to miss the early stages of the Australian WT20 league.
Six Indians, along with Smirit Mandhana, will participate in the WBBL 2024/25. After the T20 league, India Women will play a three-match WODI series against the hosts Australia Women. This series will also be a part of the 2022-2025 ICC Women’s Championship.
