Unfortunately, young all-rounder Nitish Reddy won’t be playing in the upcoming 5-match T20I series due to an injury. Nitish, who impressed in IPL 2024 and was named Emerging Player of the Year, was all set for his debut with the Indian team in July.
To fill his spot, the BCCI has announced Shivam Dube as Nitish’s replacement in India’s 15-member squad for the Zimbabwe tour starting July 6. Shivam, another promising all-rounder, now gets the opportunity to showcase his skills on the international stage.
Nitish Reddy’s journey to the national squad was a result of his stellar performance for SunRisers Hyderabad in the recent IPL season. Hailing from Visakhapatnam and only 21 years old, he had earned this call-up through sheer hard work and talent.
While the specifics of Nitish’s injury haven’t been disclosed, the BCCI medical team is closely monitoring his recovery. The decision to replace him with Shivam Dube was made after careful consideration by the senior selection committee led by Ajit Agarkar.
