KL Rahul will not play in the World Test Championship final against Australia or the remainder of the IPL 2023 season. Rahul tore a ligament in his right leg during LSG’s IPL 2023 match against Royal Challengers Bangalore.

KL Rahul, a star Indian batter and captain of the Lucknow Super Giants, announced on Friday that he will not only miss the World Test Championship final against Australia but also the current season of the IPL 2023

While chasing a ball in the second over of their match against Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rahul tore a tendon in his right leg. He had to be helped off the field at that point, and he didn’t come back until a chase of 127 became unexpectedly tense. With expectations of dominating the match, the 31-year-old left to bat at No. 11. But he couldn’t get between the wickets, so No. 9 In the final over, Amit Mishra is facing each and every ball.

LSG confirms KL Rahul is ruled out of IPL 2023, the streak ends for Rahul for scoring 500 runs in a season.

“After careful consideration and consultation with the medical team, it’s been concluded that I’ll be undergoing a surgery on my thigh shortly. My focus will be on my rehabilitation and recovery in the coming weeks. It’s a tough call to make, but I know it’s the right one to ensure a full recovery.

After the LSG-CSK game, Rahul went to Mumbai for scans. It has since been discovered that the injury is quite serious, and he will not be able to participate in the ongoing IPL 2023. That, however he will without a doubt miss the transport for the ICC World Test Title last. The Indian team, led by Rohit Sharma, is ranked first in the ICC Test rankings. From June 7 to June 11, they will play Australia in the WTC 2023 final at the Oval.

In a press release on Friday, the LSG franchise stated that he would require surgery and face a “lengthy layoff.”

“Following the injury to Lucknow Super Giants captain KL Rahul in the game against RCB, further tests and scans have unfortunately confirmed a significant tear to his tendon which will require surgery.

We are continuing to provide all possible support to KL at this difficult time and are working with him to ensure the best care on his road to recovery. However, the extent of the injury means that he is set for a lengthy layoff, which will include the remainder of this IPL season.

His presence on and off the field will be sorely missed by the Super Giants, as we continue our push to reach the playoffs for the second consecutive year. We can’t wait to see KL back on the field doing what he does best, and hope he gets back as soon as possible,”
