It has been around half a year since the conclusion of the IPL (Indian Premier League) 2023, and preparations are in full swing for the upcoming IPL 2024, scheduled to commence in late March. There are discussions regarding the possibility of relocating the latter part of the tournament to the UAE or USA due to the impending Lok Sabha elections in India.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK), led by MS Dhoni, clinched their fifth IPL title by defeating Gujarat Titans on May 30, 2023, in Ahmedabad. Tied with Mumbai Indians for the most IPL titles, CSK is poised to defend their championship in the upcoming season. Prior to that, they will participate in the IPL 2024 auction set to take place on December 19 in Dubai.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is set to maintain a strong lineup for the upcoming IPL 2024 season by retaining crucial players who have played pivotal roles in past seasons. The retained players include captain MS Dhoni, top-scorer Devon Conway, and other significant contributors such as Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ravindra Jadeja, Moeen Ali, Ajinkya Rahane, Tushar Deshpande, Matheesha Pathirana, and Maheesh Theekshana.
Despite their previous prominence, CSK has decided to release several players ahead of the IPL 2024 season. Notable names on the release list include S Senapati, Ben Stokes (who faced a season-ending toe injury), Sisanda Magala (who played only two matches), Nishant Sindhu, Kyle Jamieson (sidelined for the entire IPL 2023 season due to back surgery), Simarjeet Singh, and Shaik Rasheed.
As the IPL 2024 auction approaches on December 19 in Dubai, CSK is eyeing key players to strengthen their squad. Observing standout performances in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023, CSK has set its sights on South African fast bowler Gerald Coetzee, who has impressed with 20 wickets. Other potential targets include Kane Williamson, Rachin Ravindra, Manish Pandey, and Prasidh Krishna.

The coaching staff for CSK in IPL 2024 is led by Head Coach Stephen Fleming. The team is bolstered by Mike Hussey as the Batting Coach, Dwayne Bravo as the Bowling Coach, Eric Simmons as the Bowling Consultant, Gregory King as the Trainer, R Russell as the Manager, Khalil Khan as the Masseur, Sanjay Natarajan as the Logistics Manager, Tommy Simsek as the Physio, Lakshmi Narayanan as the High-Performance Analyst, and Rajiv Kumar as the Fielding Coach. Together, this diverse and experienced coaching staff aims to guide CSK to success in the upcoming season.
