Karun Nair came agonizingly close to pulling off a stunning turnaround for Delhi Capitals with a brilliant 89-run knock, which pushed Mumbai Indians (MI) to dig deep into their bowling reserves. In response, Trent Boult unleashed six consecutive yorkers to keep DC at bay.
The clash between MI and DC was a tightly contested affair. After setting a strong total of 205 in the first innings, MI looked in control. But when Nair walked in, he changed the momentum with his composed and powerful batting. Having already made waves in the Ranji Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy, Nair nearly rescued DC from a tough spot. At the time of his dismissal, the scoreboard read 135/3, and Delhi still had a fighting chance.
However, DC's resistance crumbled after Nair’s exit. MI bowlers, led by the experienced Trent Boult, turned up the heat and ensured their team registered their second win of the season.

Trent Boult delivered a brilliant spell under pressure, firing one pinpoint yorker after another at the Delhi Capitals batters. With the required run rate climbing, DC needed to rotate strike quickly to stay in the game. But, Boult’s relentless accuracy made scoring nearly impossible. Each delivery targeted the base of the stumps or landed perfectly in the blockhole, giving the batters no room to work with. The pressure mounted with every ball as Boult maintained complete control, showcasing his experience and skill in closing out tight games.

That over undoubtedly added immense pressure on the Delhi Capitals batters, contributing to their eventual collapse, with wickets falling at regular intervals. Ultimately, Mumbai Indians secured a hard-fought 12-run victory. So far, the 35-year-old left-arm pacer has had a relatively quiet IPL 2025 season, managing just 5 wickets in 6 games. This is in contrast to his performance last year with the Rajasthan Royals, where he claimed 16 wickets in 15 matches. For Mumbai Indians to build momentum and push ahead this season, seasoned players like Trent Boult need to step up and deliver consistently.
