IPL 2024: Ishan Kishan gives strong start to MI chase against RCB

Mumbai Indians won the toss and skipper Hardik Pandya opted to bowl first against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday in the 2024 season of the Indian Premier League. Batting first, RCB scored 196 in 20 overs. In the chase, Kishan and Rohit give the Mumbai Indians a solid start. Ishan Kishan scored 69 runs on 34 balls.

In an electrifying sequence, Ishan Kishan sent a short ball from Siraj over square leg for a six, kicking off the over with a bang. He continued his assault by driving a length delivery past the cover for a four, and then slicing a back-of-the-length ball over point for another six. The series of explosive shots concluded with a single, and Rohit Sharma joined the fray, hitting a full delivery on the pads for a six over midwicket. This flurry brought 23 runs in the over.

Furious Fifty from Kishan

Glenn Maxwell was introduced to the attack, and Ishan greeted him with a pulled four over mid-on. Following a single, he mirrored his previous shot for a six, also bringing up his fifty in just 23 balls. He didn’t stop there, driving another four past mid-on before taking a single to end the over.

Akash Deep returned to bowl, delivering a full toss that Ishan dispatched for a six towards midwicket, bringing up Mumbai’s 100 in less than 10 overs. However, his aggressive innings came to an end when he attempted to hit another big shot over long-on. He didn’t time the ball well and was caught by Virat Kohli off Akash Deep, concluding his dynamic knock at 69 runs from 34 balls, which included seven fours and five sixes.
