CSK’s skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad wins toss and decided to bowl first at MA Chidambaram Stadium against Kolkata Knight Riders in the 22nd match of IPL 2024. Ravindra Jadeja‘s exceptional bowling performance played a pivotal role in Chennai’s dominant over Kolkata in the match at Chepauk.
Kolkata’s innings began with a disappointing start, as Phil Salt fell victim to the first ball. The early loss put Kolkata on the back foot from the outset, setting the tone for a challenging match against Chennai.

Despite the early setback, Sunil Narine and Angkrish Raghuvanshi displayed resilience, forming a commendable fifty-run partnership. Narine’s aggressive batting style propelled Kolkata forward during the PowerPlay, which saw the team amass 56 runs. At the end of 16th Overs, KKR managed to score 109/5.
Chennai’s Ravindra Jadeja emerged as the game-changer, wreaking havoc on Kolkata’s batting lineup. In a remarkable display of skill, Jadeja trapped Raghuvanshi and Narine in quick succession, dismantling Kolkata’s strong foundation.
Jadeja’s stellar performance continued as he claimed his third wicket, dismissing Venkatesh Iyer and leaving Kolkata in dire straits. Chennai’s bowling attack, led by Jadeja, demonstrated exceptional control and precision, putting immense pressure on Kolkata’s batters.
Jadeja’s mastery over spin bowling was evident throughout the match, as he finished with impressive figures of 4-0-18-3. His ability to extract grip and turn from the pitch proved to be Kolkata’s undoing, leaving their batting order in disarray.
With Jadeja’s outstanding performance, Chennai gained a commanding position at the Chepauk stadium. Kolkata’s batters struggled to counter Jadeja’s spin, highlighting Chennai’s dominance on their home turf.
