In the first time ever in the history of MA Chidambaram Stadium, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) finally conquered their 17 years drought against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at this venue. They succeeded in this pity championship, with demandavers enjoying 50 runs and recording their first victory in Chennai since 2008.
RCB's Innings:
After a cautious start, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) put up a competitive total of 196/7 in their 20 overs. Phil Salt scored 32 runs in just 16 balls at the beginning, and his explosive innings provided impetus to RCB's run rate. On the other hand, Rajat Patidar did a splendid job of stabilizing the innings with his patient 51 before falling to Shahrukh Khan. Tim David single-handedly took charge in the supplementary period with his swashbuckling innings that ended with a hat-trick of sixes, courtesy of Sam Curran, to post a challenging total of 197 in their 20 overs.

CSK's Response:
In their innings, Ruutu Raj Gaikwad got out early as Josh Hazlewood trapped him lbw and then trapped Rahul Tripathi in front, leaving CSK at 15/2. Rachin Ravindra gave it a good go with 40 runs on the scoreboard, but CSK was facing some problems at that point and could only manage 146 for the loss of 8 wickets in their 20 overs. Royal Challengers Bengaluru's Yash Dayal provided a couple of timely dismissals that further discounted CSK from the pursuit, and eventually, they ended at 146/8 in 20 overs.
