During the Delhi Capitals vs Mumbai Indians match in the IPL 2025 in Delhi, DC spinner Kuldeep Yadav provided an important breakthrough by dismissing the dangerous MI opener Ryan Rickelton, who was totally clueless at his dismissal.
It was the IPL 2025 match between the in-form Delhi Capitals vs struggling Mumbai Indians, where DC skipper Axar Patel selected to bowl first after winning the toss in their first match in Delhi this season. MI openers Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton had a strong 47-run partnership before the five-time IPL-winning former skipper Rohit Sharma was dismissed by Vipraj Nigam in the fifth over.
However, Rickelton continued his dominant batting, while MI scored 59/1 at the end of the powerplay. He smashed his second sixer in the game in the seventh over as the hosts were desperate to get rid of him. The left-arm chinaman Kuldeep Yadav was introduced into the attack in the eighth over, it was proved to be a great move for the hosts.

After conceding only two runs in the first three balls of his spell, Kuldeep bowled Rickelton, who had no clue against the spinner. It was a googly, which the South African batter failed to pick. It spun, and Rickelton completely missed that, and it cost him the wicket. He was batting nicely before that over, as he scored 41 off 25 balls with five fours and two sixes. At his dismissal, MI scored 75/2 in 7.4 overs.

Mumbai Indians ultimately scored 205/5 in 20 overs, their second-highest total in the ongoing IPL 2025. Apart from the opener Rickelton, Suryakumar Yadav (40), Tilak Varma (59), and Naman Dhir (38*) also scored crucial runs in the innings. While all the Delhi Capitals' bowlers were expensive, with a minimum of 9.50 economy rate in that innings, Kuldeep Yadav finished with the bowling figures of 4-0-23-2, as he also took the wicket of Suryakumar Yadav. Kuldeep conceded three fours but delivered 11 dot balls.
