Star batsman and ex-Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma is not featuring in the highly anticipated IPL 2025 match between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), which is taking place at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on April 4 (Friday).
Prior to the match, MI captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and elected to bowl first. At the time of the toss, Hardik reasserted that Rohit Sharma is not playing due to being injured. He stated that Rohit got injured on his knee, which made him miss this crucial encounter.

To add firepower to the bowling attack, Akash Deep has been included in the team as a replacement for Rohit. This is welcome relief for Mumbai Indians, who have not fared well in their initial games.

Both MI and LSG have taken a slow beginning to the season. They have both played three games till now, winning only one. This is a significant game for both teams as they want to move up from the lower half of the points table.
