The IPL 2025 Match 35 featured the Gujarat Titans (GT) defeating the Delhi Capitals (DC) with 7 wickets when both teams played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on April 19th.

Delhi Capitals Innings

Delhi Capitals, opting to bat first after winning the toss, got off to a brisk start at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Dc began their innings with a strong start as KL Rahul scored 28 runs off 14 balls, and Karun Nair hit 31 runs using 18 balls until Prasidh Krishna bowled Nair for dismissal by Arshad Khan. At 77/3, Delhi Capitals suffered a setback when Vipraj Nigam hit a delivery from Krishna to be caught by Jos Buttler. Axar Patel scored 39 runs from his 32 balls, while Tristan Stubbs (31 off 17) and Ashutosh Sharma (37 off 20) completed the inning with their late boundary hits. The 4 overs from Prasidh Krishna resulted in 41 runs, with Axar Patel becoming one of his victims, while Mohammed Siraj maintained tight control over the opposition. During the inning, Rashid Khan gave away more than 9 runs in each of his overs. The last part of DC's batting performance faded out as the overs progressed despite building a difficult run score.

Gujarat Titans Innings

The Gujarat Titans lost their initial wicket of Shubman Gill after he scored 7 runs for a run-out. The inning was carried by Jos Buttler, who remained unbeaten with 97 runs from 54 balls (5 sixes, 11 fours), while Sai Sudharsan scored 36 off 20 deliveries as support. The 119-run partnership between Sherfane Rutherford and Jos Buttler established control while Rutherford scored 43 runs from 34 balls during the Gujarat Titans' run. Rahul Tewatia launched his bat for a game-shaping 10* off 2 atScores (six, four) to clinch a 7-wicket victory for Gujarat Titans against Delhi Capitals with four balls remaining. The combination of DC's Kuldeep Yadav and Mukesh Kumar allowed Jos Buttler to score 97 runs without being dismissed, while GT achieved their first IPL 2022 victory against DC with more than 200 runs.

GT vs DC: Post Match Reactions

Axar Patel (DC Captain): "I think we were 10-15 runs short, and that was the difference in the end. We lost wickets whenever we were trying to accelerate and couldn't build partnerships. We should have hit a few more boundaries. We bowled really well but missing a few catches here and there also cost us. No need to think much. It was just a matter of 1 or 2 hits and a few fielding lapses. We shouldn't repeat such mistakes."

Sai Sudharsan (GT ) was pleased with his batting conditions in the second innings and said he wanted to focus on timing rather than power. He said he trains for different reactions to deliveries and that he is continually evolving as a batsman by watching players like Jos Buttler, as he considers him to have a similar base and calmness in approach.

Gujarat Titans (GT Captain) said his bowlers responded well after a good start from the Capitals. Although the Capitals built that early momentum, the Titans' bowlers came back to the game by following the plans. Gill said his team has been good in chasing throughout the season, and he was pleased with the calculated partnership being built by Jos Buttler and Sherfane Rutherford. Gill added that the team will be looking forward to their upcoming back-to-back matches.

Jos Buttler (Player of the Match) told the media that he was ecstatic with the win and with his performance. He acknowledged that the playing conditions were difficult given the degree as well as the importance of fitness in these matches. Buttler said it was great to bat with Rutherford, and he was proud to make a contribution with a win even if he just missed out on a century.
