On April 28, 2025, Rajasthan Royals (RR) put on an electrifying display to win by 8 wickets from Gujarat Titans (GT) in Match 47 of IPL 2025 at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur. RR achieved the improbable task of chasing down 210 runs inside 15.5 overs.
GT posted a solid total of 209/4 after electing to bat. GT played aggressively in the first 10 overs with an opening partnership of 112 runs, with Shubman Gill whipping up 84 runs off 50 balls (8 fours, 3 sixes) and Jos Buttler blasting 50 runs off 26 balls. Sai Sudharsan made 39 runs off 30 balls before David Miller (18* off 8) and Rahul Tewatia (12* off 6) added fireworks at the end. RR's bowlers struggled to control GT's batting. Rashid Khan (1/24) took out Buttler, and Sandeep Sharma (1/33) removed Gill. Jofra Archer (1/49) and Prasidh Krishna (1/47) lacked control of the scoring in a fun wicket for batting.
RR defeated GT by 8 wickets for a total of 212/6 in 15.5 overs! Vaibhav Suryavanshi's flamboyant innings of 101* runs off 38 balls made the fastest century by an Indian in IPL 2025, allowing him to build on 70 runs in 40 balls-a strike rate with Yashasvi Jaiswal before the two made a huge first-wicket partnership of 140 runs off 11 overs! Ryan Parag's innings of 32* off 15 balls allowed RR to win with 25 balls to spare after restoratively losing Sanju Samson (12 runs) and Riyan Parag (15 runs). GT's bowling unit did an okay job, with Maheesh Theekshana grabbing 2 wickets (2/35), Rashid Khan (1/24), and Prasidh Krishna (1/47), but they weren't effective at all and never intimidated the RR batsmen after getting smashed around the park!

Yashasvi Jaiswal (Rajasthan Royals): "Vaibhav played a phenomenal innings, one of the best innings I've witnessed. The way he batted today was pretty massive, and I hope he can continue in that mode. I was telling him to keep going, and we can see some incredible shots that just came off the bat, and he obviously has some quality training in the nets. His game and temperament are good for him to keep going. We also spoke about taking responsibility to close these games out; we have struggled lately to do that. The coach has spoken about how we should be taking this one game at a time to just focus on giving 100% and having fun playing cricket."
Shubman Gill (Gujarat Titans Captain): "I think Rajasthan capitalized on the powerplay, which credit to them. We missed a couple of opportunities, and it is easy to sit and say we could have done things differently, but when you are in it, it's a bit different. I sat out today because of a back spasm and was literally told to rest with a game on Monday. I don't think the past results matter now; we are only focused on the next game in Ahmedabad and trying to get some momentum. Vaibhav's knock was unbelievable; you take nothing away from his day today."
Riyan Parag (Rajasthan Royals Captain): "Vaibhav's innings was unbelievable. To come out and perform against GT's quality bowling on a big stage in front of a big crowd is special. We had slightly modified our approach to finishing games slightly earlier; we showed intent in the middle overs. I think when the one batter was set, the other batter could provide support, and it really did work well for us tonight."
Vaibhav Suryavanshi (Player of the Match): "Scoring my first IPL hundred in my third innings feels amazing. Months of practice paid off. I focus on each ball’s merit, not the bowler. Batting with Jaiswal is great; his positivity motivates me. This century is a dream come true, and I play without fear, focusing on my game."
