PBKS vs KKR: Post Match Reactions

Ajinkya Rahane (KKR Captain): Rahane took total ownership of KKR’s batting collapse and regretted getting out LBW to Chahal, where he thought he’d missed a meaningful delivery. He admitted that 111 was a reachable target but called out reckless shot-making, saying that the pitch did not lend itself to using sweeps and that they “probably” needed to play some cricket shots. He called for positivity in the dressing room, particularly with half the tournament remaining, notwithstanding the loss.

Ricky Ponting (PBKS Head Coach): Ponting hailed the thrilling defense of 112, particularly when putting it in contrast to PBKS’s previous attempt to defend 246. He lauded Chahal’s “outstanding” spell, despite reporting a shoulder problem, payed respect to well-executed bowling changes, and called the match a moment-defining and one of the best moments of his coaching career.

Yuzvendra Chahal (Player of the Match): Chahal said he worked on creating positivity within the team, planning to take early wickets in innings on a turning pitch. After conceding 56 runs in his prior game, Chahal backed himself to bowl well in the middle overs, varying pace against Rahane, to achieve a pleasing low score winning impact.

Shreyas Iyer (PBKS Captain): Iyer described the unpredictable place (with low balls, and spin) and applauded the aggressive bowling executed by Chahal. Iyer noted the positive momentum build momentum from the early wickets and aggressive fields and said that gritty wins were important features of PBKS’ season.
