IPL 2025 mega auction dates announced

The mega auction for the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) has been officially revealed along with its venue. 

October 31 was the deadline for the players’ retention before the mega auction. At the retention, ten teams retained a total of 46 players, while the maximum total number was available at 60. 

Jeddah will host the mega auction 

On Tuesday (November 5) night, the IPL governing council announced that the mega auction for the IPL 2025 will be organised on November 24 and 25. Jeddah in Saudi Arabia will host this auction. While the Indian cricketers will be busy for the five-match Test series opener against the hosts Australia, the mega auction dates are clashing with the third and fourth days of the Test series opener at Perth.  

It will be the second time that a foreign country hosting the IPL auction. Dubai hosted the IPL 2024 auction. 

More than 1500 players have registered their names for the mega auction

Players’ registration for the IPL 2025 mega auction was officially closed on November 4. A total of 1574 players will participate in the upcoming auction. Out of them, 1165 cricketers are Indians and the other 409 players are from overseas, Apart from 320 capped players and 1224 uncapped players, 30 remaining players are from Associate nations.  

Each of the ten teams can fill a maximum of 25 players for the IPL 2025, including a maximum number of eight overseas players. There are 204 names available to be filed in the upcoming two-day mega auction.

IPL also revealed the number of registered players from each overseas country for the upcoming mega auction. South Africa, Australia, and England are the top three on this list.
