Mahendra Singh Dhoni inches away to add another feather in his crown. The current Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain is on the verge of playing his 400th career T20 match. CSK will face Sunrisers Hyderabad today (April 25) at MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Previously, Rohit Sharma (456 matches), Dinesh Karthik (412), and Virat Kohli (407) set an example of playing 400 T20 matches; Dhoni will join this elite club this evening. Dhoni, despite being 43, still managed to push paddles to make multiple lightning-fast stumpings and some big hits.

Under his leadership, Chennai Super Kings were crowned as the best in IPL 5 times. In IPL, the former international wicketkeeper and batter has played 272 games, scoring 5,377 runs with a healthy strike rate of 137.87. For India, MS played 98 matches, scoring 1,617 runs at a strike rate of 126.13.

Despite IPL and international games, Dhoni had played numerous matches for CSK in Champions League T20 (CLT20) and domestic matches as well. According to stats, the veteran cricketer had played 24 CLT20 matches and bagged 449 runs.

Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad left with only one option for today's game— a win

Chennai Super Kings started their IPL 2025 campaign with Ruturaj Gaikwad as their captain. But he was forced to pull out of the tournament for a serious injury issue, which caused MS Dhoni to take over the leadership role again.

The former champion side left very little hope to qualify for the next round as they secured only 2 wins in 8 matches, the same as Sunrisers Hyderabad. Tonight, both teams will step onto the field with the hope of ending their losing streak.
