IPL 2025 is another exciting match going to be played between Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants where both of the teams are in great form, Punjab has played only one match in this IPL edition whereas Lucknow has played two matches one against DC and another against SRH. Punjab played a great game against Rajasthan Royals. Punjab in this auction invested a lot in a good amount of players, the best thing they did was buy Shreyas Iyer who has been too good as a middle-order batsman and as a captain too. 

Shreyas Iyer has proved a lot when he played for Delhi Capitals he led them to the finals of 2020 where they lost it but the calibre of Iyer was seen in that. Soon he was roped in by KKR as captain, where he delivered a lot and made them champions in last year's IPL season and Gambhir was the mentor of the team. But due to credential issues, Shreyas opted out from the Kolkata team and inducted himself in the auction and Punjab bought him for 26.5 crores which was the second highest bid in this IPL auction.

Punjab Kings Against Lucknow Super Giants
Punjab came into the auction with the second highest amount they were with a plan to acquire Shreyas Iyer and did it. Shreyas had gone through after the 2023 World Cup where his contract with BCCI was suspended, he was not included in the T20 World Cup, but he came back with a strong reply by winning the Ranji Trophy, Irani Cup, SMAT, then the 2024 IPL trophy. After all this, he was included in the Champions Trophy team. 
His performance in the Champions Trophy was excellent and he was the second-highest run-getter of the tournament. Now being part of Punjab Kings he has given a solid performance over there too against GT. His 97 runs were crucial to the team in building up a good score.

Punjab Kings and Lucknow have faced each other four times in IPL where LSG has the upper hand on them but change in captaincy and atmosphere there can be a chance of Punjab to return the favour back to Lucknow. Even Lucknow too has a balanced team to tackle so it would be a tough battle for both the teams to battle out each other in the upcoming contest between them.
