With the half-way point reached in the IPL 2025 season, the battle for playoffs is beginning. Based on the current position, 16 points will likely be the target to be in the playoff contention. Here's a detailed analysis of where all ten franchises stand currently and what each of them will have to qualify into the top four.
1. Delhi Capitals (DC):
The Delhi Capitals are at present at the top of the table. They need only 3 victories out of their last 8 games to achieve the 16-point mark. With consistent performances from all departments, they are solid contenders for the playoffs.
2. Gujarat Titans (GT):
GT requires 4 victories out of 8 matches. They have been consistent in the past seasons and possess the team to fight through. Their chances of qualification are still high.
3. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB):
RCB has come back in style and now needs 4 additional victories in 8 games. If their major players keep playing, RCB can easily qualify.
4. Punjab Kings (PBKS):
PBKS is also in the same boat as RCB, requiring 4 victories from 8 games. Their batting line-up will have to remain consistent if they are to make it through.
5. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG):
LSG is under a bit of pressure, needing 4 victories in 7 games. They'll have to be clinical in their remaining games to qualify.
6. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR):
KKR's journey is more difficult—they require 5 victories out of their next 6. With not much margin for error, each game is now do-or-die.
7. Mumbai Indians (MI):
MI requires 5 victories out of 7 games. Although it's a difficult ask, their proficiency in clutch situations may prove to be decisive.
8. Rajasthan Royals (RR):
RR is in trouble, requiring 6 victories out of 7 games. They'll have to win nearly every game if they're going to remain in the hunt.
9. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH):
SRH, just like RR, requires 6 victories out of 7. It's asking for too much, but fine performances by regulars can give them hope.
10. Chennai Super Kings (CSK):
CSK, with their ability to stage a comeback, requires 6 wins out of 7 games too. Though unlikely, it cannot be ruled out given the veterans they have on their side.
