In the 14th match of the IPL 2025 season, held on April 2 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Gujarat Titans (GT) defeated Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by 8 wickets.

Match Highlights:

RCB Innings: RCB finished at 169 runs for 8 wickets after 20 overs, but it was certainly not smooth sailing. Tim David's 32 and Livingstone’s 54 runs off 40 balls provided support. RCB suffered early and had their captain, Virat Kohli, out for 7 courtesy of an Arshad Khan delivery, and Phil Salt was out for 14 to a Siraj delivery. Arshad Khan had the best numbers for the Gujarat Titans with 3 wickets for 28 runs, while Sai Kishore took 2 wickets to help slow down RCB in the last overs.

GT Innings: Gujarat Titans won the match with an 8-wicket lead after depleting the target score in 17.3 overs. Jos Buttler managed to grab the limelight with a marvelous 73 runs off 39 balls, while Sai Sudharsan made 49 off 36 and played some splendid winning cricket. Although Bhuvneshwar Kumar made sure to take care of Sudharman Gill as he easily trampled him for 14, GT was in a stable position. Although there was a steep slowdown when Sudharsan was dismissed, Buttler and Sherfane winning the match made sure that GT won the match with 15 balls to spare.

Post-Match Reactions:

Mohammed Siraj (Player of the Match): “It was hard to contain my emotions playing for the first time against RCB after 7 years, but once I received the ball, it was game on. I’m a huge fan of Ronaldo, so my ‘Siu’ celebration is dedicated to him. The time off before I started with GT was helpful, as I was able to dedicate time to my fitness and my bowling. Nehra has been, and I have, picked a lot from the way Nehra has approached it and also from the way Ishant Sharma and Kagiso Rabada have done it. As a bowler, I always keep the belief that if I get hit, I try something different while confidently staying positive."

Shubman Gill (GT Captain): "The way we contained RCB to 170 in their innings on this pitch was commendable. At times it plays like a 250-run wicket, but today there was some help for the bowlers. We ensured during that phase that no wickets were lost, which made the chase easier. Considering the conditions, we stayed aggressive and adapted well even though Butler dropping the catch early was frustrating."

Rajat Patidar (RCB Captain): "The way Jitesh, Liam, and Tim David batted, it was a positive for us. We're confident about the batting line-up; they're showing some positive intent, which is very good for us".

With the tournament heating up, every match is crucial for teams aiming to secure a playoff spot. Stay tuned for more updates on IPL 2025...!
