Lucknow Super Giants faced a major setback before of their important IPL 2025 match against Gujarat Titans on Saturday, April 12, in Lucknow. Their star all-rounder Mitchell Marsh is not playing in this crucial game at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium.
LSG captain Rishabh Pant won the toss and chose to bowl first. At the toss, he shared that Marsh is not available for the match because of a family issue his daughter is unwell. Marsh, who has been in great form and is currently the third-highest run-scorer in the tournament with 265 runs in five games, has taken a break to be with his family.

Himmat Singh has replaced Marsh in the playing XI for this match. Pant also explained the decision to bowl first, saying the pitch looks good and they want to make the most of the home conditions.

“We are bowling first. The pitch looks good. We’ve won our last two games and the team is doing well. We always talk about sticking to our process, and the players have been responding nicely. Our bowlers deserve a lot of credit. Mitchell Marsh is not playing today because his daughter is not well. Himmat Singh comes in,” Pant said. With two wins in a row, LSG will hope to keep the momentum going, even without one of their key players.
