MS Dhoni IPL 2025: It was a thin-on-the-ground moment when someone suggested Mahendra Singh Dhoni consider his retirement. Former Australia international and ex-teammate of MS, Matthew Hayden, said during his commentary duties, "He has lost the cricket."

Chennai Super Kings failed to chase a manageable target on three occasions when their former skipper was on the pitch with a bat. Last night, against Delhi Capitals, who took their total to 183, CSK outperformed them by a 25-run margin.

A 42-year-old Dhoni, who was on the pitch and faced 26 deliveries, scored only 30, which proved not enough for his team to reach the finish line. His performance has been under review since the CSK vs. RCB match at Chepauk, home ground of Chennai Super Kings, when Dhoni came for batting at number 9.

Should MS Dhoni retire even after scoring unbeaten 30 against 16 balls?

"(MS) Dhoni should join us in our commentary box after this game. He has lost the cricket." Suggesting his former teammate join him in the commentary box, Matthew Hayden told. "It's over for him. He should accept this fact until it's too late for CSK."

So far in the ongoing IPL 2025, the star Indian wicketkeeper-batter has fetched 0 not out (vs. Mumbai Indians), 30 not out (vs. RCB), 16 (vs. Rajasthan Royals), and 30 not out (vs. Delhi Capitals), which were not justifying his legacy.

Though, it is necessary to remember that most of the occasions when Dhoni came into the field batting this season, CSK was almost knocked out of the match. Against the Mumbai Indians, the only instance when the Chennai Super Kings registered a victory, Dhoni remained on the pitch unbeaten for 0 after playing 2 balls. But when the matter got more serious, like the match CSK vs. RCB, where Super Kings needed to chase 98 runs in the last 28 balls, MS tried as much as possible and scored an unbeaten 30 with 16 balls.
