After having won the T20 World Cup, Team India finally left Barbados for New Delhi on a chartered flight from the Grantley Adams International Airport in Bridgetown on July 3 after being stranded for three days because of a dangerous hurricane, which forced the airport there to be shut down as well.

However, the special Air India flight AIC24WC (Air India Champions 24 World Cup) took off around 4.50 am local time and they will land in New Delhi on Thursday at around 6.20 am IST as well. The Indian players, the support staff, the players’ families and some board officials are there on the flight, arranged by the BCCI alongside members of the travelling Indian media as well.

India won the ICC Trophy after a long gap of 11 years

The Boeing 777, which took off from New Jersey on July 2, landed in Barbados around 2 am local time as well at the Grantley Adams International Airport as it resumed its operations on Tuesday only. The team was slated to leave around 6 pm local time on July 2 and arrive at 7.45 pm IST on Wednesday as well but that was delayed as the plane landed late in Barbados as well.

However, India won the T20 World Cup title after registering a thrilling seven-run win over South Africa in the final on Saturday. Meanwhile, the players are all set to be felicitated by India prime minister Narendra Modi within hours of returning to India as well. Plans are also there to have a roadshow in Mumbai to honour the Champions, who won a senior ICC trophy after a long gap of 11 years as well.
