Surgery in New Zealand
Bumrah has undergone a successful back surgery in Christchurch NZ only recently in a series of treatment previously used. The operation was carried out at the hands of Dr. Rowan Schouten, an esteemed spinal surgeon focused on treating hard to heal sport injuries.
So it was a major milestone for Bumrah that the surgery was the remedy to his recurring back pain, finally hitting at the root cause of the problem.
Bumrah was told to take 6 months off post surgery rebuilding his strength bit by bit. The BCCI and NCA consider the timeline to be too long for tournaments such as Asia Cup but for some meaningful international events the player is being monitored closely for a return.
His next stage of recovery could potentially be with some specialist in New Zealand to get proper strength back, Bumrah said that he needs at least six weeks. It is yet to be confirmed whether the path to further treatment in New Zealand, BCCI said it would be after consulting the country's medical experts.
