Six Indian players have been picked in the first three rounds of the WBBL draft, including the pre-signed Smriti Mandhana. Deepti Sharma and Jemimah Rodrigues as well. Deepti, who was the fourth pick of the day, was signed by Melbourne Stars whereas Jemimah was the seventh player in the first round and was picked by Brisbane Heat as well.

Meanwhile, star England player Danni Wyatt was the first player selected in the draft, signed by Hobart Hurricanes. Veteran spinner Sophie Ecclestone went to her old team Sydney Sixers while Adelaide Strikers signed South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt. Sydney Thunder chose England captain Heather Knight and Deandra Dottin, who recently reversed her international retirement, was selected by Melbourne Renegades as well.

Six Indian players pick in WBBL 2024 draft

Veteran India pace bowler Shikha Pandey was the third Indian player to be picked in the draft, signed by Brisbane Heat in the second round. Meanwhile, Perth Scorchers retained Amy Jones in the round.

Indian all-rounder Hemalatha Dayalan was the first pick in the third round of the draft by Perth Scorchers. Melbourne Renegades got hold of star England batter Alice Capsey. Sydney Thunder got their pre-signed player Chamari Athapaththu as well. While Melbourne Stars picked India wicketkeeper Yastika Bhatia, star India batter Smriti Mandhana, pre-signed by Adelaide Strikers, was picked as well.

Four teams passed in the fourth round of the draft - Hobart Hurricanes, Melbourne Stars, Melbourne Renegades and Perth Scorchers as well. Meanwhile, Ireland all-rounder Orla Prendergast was picked by Adelaide Strikers. Nadine de Klerk, who went to the Brisbane Heat, was the last player to be picked in the draft as well.
