Following a fruitful performance in the latest edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Ruturaj Gaikwad will now look to make the most of the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand. The 24-year-old is part of the 16-member squad for the upcoming three-match series against the Black Caps, which begins on November 17.
Regardless of where he bats, Gaikwad says – “I am prepared to accept any role the situation demands despite having almost five openers in the squad. As for my batting position in the Indian team, I haven’t thought about it yet, but as a professional I am ready to adjust. I want to focus on the things that I can control. Getting opportunities and playing well will cement my place in the league.I don’t think about these things very much as they depend on a lot of variables and strategies.” In an exclusive interview with Times of India, the CSK batsman stated.
Finishing games has always been my focus.“It’s my way of thinking. In the end, though, simplicity is what I strive for. Taking into account the circumstances, I adjusted my batting a bit and it worked out well,” Gaikwad concluded.
CSK skipper MS Dhoni helped him to become more focused on finishing the games as the right-handed batter, who racked up 635 runs from 16 appearances to win the Orange Cap.
