India’s left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh believes that improving, even a little bit each game, has been the key to his success in T20 cricket. “I've always believed that the biggest room in the world is the room for improvement,” he said in an interview with JioHotstar. “Whenever I get the chance, I think about my game, work on my skills, and try to get better even if it’s just by 1% or half a percent.” Arshdeep has become an important part of India’s T20 team and was their leading wicket-taker in the T20 World Cup last year, where India won the title by beating South Africa in the final in Barbados.
Arshdeep Singh key player for Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and made an impact in the team’s first match of the 2025 season, taking two wickets. Punjab, who are still chasing their first IPL trophy, started their campaign with a solid 11-run win over Gujarat Titans, the 2022 champions.

Arshdeep is confident about Punjab’s chances this season and believes they can put up a strong fight under new captain Shreyas Iyer. “I’ve played under Iyer before, in the Duleep Trophy, and I really enjoyed it. He always backed his players and gave them the freedom to play their natural game,” he said. “Here, I see the same approach. He doesn’t give strict instructions but trusts players to rely on their skills and play for the team. He encourages a selfless attitude and supports everyone.” With 99 wickets in 63 T20I matches for India and 78 wickets in 66 IPL games, Arshdeep has proven himself as a bowler who thrives under pressure. He believes that when the team trusts a player, it gives them the confidence to execute their plans better, especially in tough moments. “I enjoy stepping up when the team is in a tough spot whether it’s stopping runs or taking wickets.

When the captain gives me the ball in tough situations, it feels good to know they believe in me in the tough situations also. I don’t see it as pressure, but as a responsibility, and I focus on doing my best,” he said. For Arshdeep, patience and learning from mistakes are the keys to success. “Success doesn’t come overnight, but I never let setbacks affect my bowling. Every time I get a chance, I give it my all to help the team win.”
