KL Rahul has set a new record in the Indian Premier League. The ace wicketkeeper-batter became the quickest Indian to have achieved 200 IPL sixes. He achieved this feat on April 19, 2025, in the game between Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. In the third over of the innings, Rahul hit Mohammed Siraj over the long-on boundary to smash his 200th six spectacularly. In addition to being a personal achievement, the six demonstrated Rahul's ability to take on the best bowlers early in the innings.
Rahul achieved 200 sixes in just 129 innings, bettering the previous record shared by Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson, who had reached the same achievement in 159 innings. Other Indian greats such as MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma achieved 200 sixes in 165, 180, and 185 innings, respectively.

In total, KL Rahul is the third-quickest IPL bowler in history to score 200 sixes. Only West Indies legends Chris Gayle and Andre Russell have achieved it quicker. Gayle, who is the "Universe Boss," achieved 200 sixes in 69 innings, while Russell achieved it in 97 innings. This makes Rahul the quickest among all Indian batsmen and just behind two of the greatest big-hitters the game has ever known.
With this milestone, Rahul joins a select list of IPL batsmen. He is the 11th man overall and the sixth Indian to have hit 200 sixes in the tournament. During the game, Rahul was in top form as he scored 28 runs off 14 deliveries. His innings contained three fours and one significant six that set history. As the 2025 IPL season unfolds, viewers will be keen to watch how many more sixes Rahul can annex to his name.
