Indian Premier League, Match 47: Kolkata Knight Riders went against Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai and the former won by 7 wickets, ending Kolkata’s losing streak.

Kolkata bowlers restricted Rajasthan Royals to a minimal score of 152/5. Skipper Sanju Samson hit his fifty as Rajasthan posted 152 for five against KKR. Samson had accounted for seven fours and a six in his 49-ball 54. Tim Southee (2/46) scalped two wickets, while Yadav (1/24), Ankul Roy (1/28) and Shivam Mavi (1/33) accounted for one each.

KKR had won the toss and opted to bowl. Jos Buttler and Devdutt Padikkal were the openers for RR while Umesh Yadav started off with the proceedings. Buttler hit a boundary. Tim Southee from mid off chased it back and put in a dive but failed to keep it away from the fence. Umesh Yadav removed Padikkal early as he continued being impressive this season. Samson was at number 3 and scored a boundary for RR. Samson hit a massive four to Yadav’s length ball, outside off. He tried to go over mid off and get proper elevation for the ball to travel over the leaping mid off fielder and hit a boundary. It was quite the Sanju Trademark.

Samson started the 13th over with a four and he was just 2 runs away from his 50 then. A single took him to 49 runs. Nair got hold of the next ball and hit a four. Rajasthan stood at 90/2 after 13 overs. A six was slammed by Parag to end the over as 100 came up for Rajasthan. Narine came in to bowl the first over of the slog overs. RR batters struggled a little against him as they only managed a couple of singles. Southee striked straight away as the on field umpire gave Samson out for a LBW.
Parag came in and out quite soon as he got caught by Roy. Ashwin was on strike during the last over while she kept lingering around the boundary ropes. Ashwin took a single and Hetmyer came back on strike and he scored a 4 in the second ball. Mavi showed great deliveries. The last ball was a WIDE as RR posted 152/5 by the end of 20 overs.

For KKR, Indrajith and Finch were at the crease while the former was on strike. Boult was opening the attack and Indrajith was straight off the mark with a single. KKR took two runs in the middle while Finch was struggling to time his shots. Kuldeep Sen started off with a WIDE ball. Finch departs after he messes up the wickets and Sen striked again. Krishna bowled the last over of the powerplay and it was a neat show by Iyer as he started with two runs. He missed a run out. Ashwin bowled the 9th over as the required run rate went up to 9 for KKR and 2 runs were scored off the first 3 balls. Kuldeep bowled the 10th over . Iyer gave us a good shot. Kuldeep makes a comeback as he bowls a venomous yorker to the KKR captain’s legs. Ashwin was stunning at fielding today and prevented another four. Rinku Singh finished off Boult’s last over with a four. Chahal was back to bowl on the 14th and only 4 runs were scored.

Chahal bowled in the 18th over and Rinku hit him for a four. It has been marvellous ever since. KKR stood at 135/3 after 18 overs. The 19th over went for 17 runs and Kolkata needed just 1 run to win that over. Stunning innings expresses and the innings is over with a 6!

This marked the end of today’s match of KKR vs RR, as Kolkata finally breaks the losing streak! Of course we hope for more to come.
