The Lanka T10 Super League finally completed its wait as its first edition started on Wednesday (December 11). It is a new journey for the T10 cricket format. It is a 10-overs-a-side match that generally runs for 90 minutes.
T Ten Sports Management has launched the Lanka T10 Super League while Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is organising this tournament in partnership with the Abu Dhabi T10 League.
Although the Lanka T10 Super League was initially planned to organise its inaugural edition in December 2023, it was postponed due to financial issues. However, the wait is over for its first edition, as the Lanka T10 Super League began on December 11, 2024.
Six teams are participating in the first edition of the Lanka T10 Super League. These teams are Colombo Jaguars, Galle Marvels, Hambantota Bangla Tigers, Jaffna Titans, Kandy Bolts, and Nuwara Eliya Kings.
Lanka T10 Super League 2024 will run between December 11 and December 19, 2024. Each of the six teams will play seven matches in the round-robin stage, twice against two teams and once against three other teams.
At the end of the league stage, the top four teams in the final points table will advance to the playoffs. While the top two teams will qualify for the Qualifier 1 on December 18, the third and fourth-placed teams will face each other on the same day in the Eliminator round. While the winners of the Qualifier 1 will advance to the Final, the Qualifier 1 losers will face Eliminator winners in the Qualifier 2 on December 18.
On December 19, Qualifier 1 and Qualifier 2 winners will meet in the Final of the tournament. The winners of the Final will lift the trophy.
Venue: Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy will host all 25 matches of the tournament.
