Formerly known as the Madras Cricket Club Ground, the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai has witnessed numerous historic moments in IPL history. With a seating capacity of 38,000, it offers a spin-friendly surface that challenges even the best of batsmen. Teams batting first have tasted success on 46 occasions out of the 76 IPL matches held here, with an average first-innings score of 163.

Eden Gardens, Kolkata

As the hallowed home ground of the Kolkata Knight Riders, Eden Gardens in Kolkata has witnessed 86 IPL battles since the tournament’s inception. The chasing team holds the advantage here, with 51 victories batting second. A memorable moment was when the Chennai Super Kings set the IPL record with a total of 235 runs against the home team in the last edition. With a seating capacity of 68,000, Eden Gardens boasts one of the largest crowds in IPL history.

Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai

Celebrating its 50th anniversary, the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai stands as a testament to cricketing excellence. With a seating capacity of nearly 32,000, this iconic venue has hosted 111 IPL matches, including the thrilling 2011 ODI World Cup final. The highest team score recorded here is an impressive 235, achieved by the Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2015.

Maharaja Yadavindra Singh Stadium, Mohali

Making its debut as Punjab Kings’ home ground in the 2024 IPL season, the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh Stadium in Mohali is set to leave a mark. With a capacity of 33,000, this stadium boasts a herringbone drainage system, ensuring quick rainwater removal within 25-30 minutes. Unlike traditional soil, sand has been utilized for ground preparation in Mullanpur, enhancing playing conditions.

Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad

Boasting the title of the world’s largest cricket stadium with a staggering capacity of 1,32,000, the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad hosted the thrilling finale of the last IPL edition. ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam

Chosen as the temporary home ground for Delhi Capitals, this venue promises exciting encounters. Although the Ajun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi hosted the latter half of the Women’s Premier League, Visakhapatnam gears up to make its mark on the IPL stage.

M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru

Renowned for producing high-scoring encounters, the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru has etched its name in IPL history. With a seating capacity of 40,000, this iconic venue has hosted 88 IPL matches, witnessing jaw-dropping moments. The highest team total recorded here stands at a staggering 263, achieved by RCB against Pune Warriors in 2013.

Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad

Home to the Sunrisers Hyderabad, the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad has witnessed 71 IPL clashes. The team batting second has often emerged victorious here, with the highest total being 231 runs. With a seating capacity of 55,000, this stadium promises an electrifying atmosphere for cricket fans.

Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur

With a seating capacity of 30,000, the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur has played host to numerous IPL encounters. Known for its shorter boundaries, this venue has witnessed several high-scoring contests over the years. Among the 52 matches held here, 34 have been won by teams batting second, adding to the stadium’s reputation for thrilling cricket action.

Ekana Sports City, Lucknow

Embracing IPL cricket since the previous season, Ekana Sports City in Lucknow serves as the home ground for the Lucknow Super Giants. With a seating capacity of 50,000, this venue witnessed a memorable debut match where the home team scored 193 runs against Delhi Capitals, setting the record for the highest team score on this ground.

HPCA Stadium, Dharamsala

Nestled in the serene foothills of the Himalayas, the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala offers a picturesque setting for IPL matches. Initially serving as the home ground for Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings), this venue has a seating capacity of 21,000. Set to host two matches in the 2024 IPL, it promises an enchanting experience for cricket enthusiasts.

Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi

Despite being the designated home ground for Delhi Capitals, the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi will not host any matches in the first half of the 2024 IPL season. Recently, the stadium witnessed the second phase of the Women’s Premier League, including knockout games. Having previously hosted 76 IPL matches, this venue boasts a seating capacity of 35,200.
