England cricket player Ollie Robinson set an unwanted record during the ongoing County Championship match between Sussex and Leicestershire at the 1st Central County Ground in Hove. He conceded the most runs in a single over in English First-Class cricket, giving away 43 runs.
Louis Kimber’s performance in the County Championship was nothing short of extraordinary, setting multiple records in a single match. He achieved the fastest double-century in County Championship history and smashed a record-breaking 21 sixes. Additionally, he recorded the highest score ever achieved by a batsman at No. 8 or lower and scored an incredible 43 runs off a single over.
Leicestershire’s Louis Kimber completely dominated Robinson in the second innings. In the 59th over, Kimber hit eight boundaries from nine balls, including three no-balls, making Robinson look helpless.
Kimber started the over with a six, followed by a four on a no-ball. He then hit another boundary on the second legal delivery. On the third ball, Kimber struck another six and a four on the next. Robinson bowled another no-ball, which Kimber also hit for a boundary. Kimber continued the assault with another four on the fifth ball and yet another on a subsequent no-ball. Robinson finally managed to limit Kimber to just one run on the last ball.
Robinson’s 43-run over broke the previous record of 38 runs conceded by Alex Tudor in 1998.
Louis Kimber has been a standout player for Leicestershire in this match. With his team struggling at 175/7, Kimber stepped up, scored a half-century, and continued to play brilliantly to reach a century. He is now on his way to a double century, sitting at 191 runs off just 92 balls, including 18 fours and 16 sixes.
