Australian cricketer Matthew Wade has been brought on board Gujarat Titans' coaching staff for the new season of the IPL. The 37-year-old will be an Assistant Coach to Head Coach Ashish Nehra, Batting Coach Parthiv Patel, Aashish Kapoor, and Narender Negi (Assistant Coaches).

Wade played as a wicketkeeper-batter for Gujarat Titans in the last three IPL seasons. He first made his IPL debut in 2011 but came back after 11 years when he was purchased by the Titans in 2022. But he was not able to perform well, scoring just 161 runs in 12 matches.

He stepped away from cricket back in October and transitioned to coaching sooner rather than later. He was appointed an assistant coach for Australia in a T20I series against Pakistan.

Wade had a remarkable career abroad, playing for the nation in 36 Tests, 97 ODIs, and 92 T20Is, and netting 4,682 runs. His greatest moment came during the 2021 T20 World Cup semi-final when he scored a match-winning half-century against Pakistan. Australia won the championship game against New Zealand.

Gujarat Titans debuted in their IPL dream in 2022, winning the trophy. They were runners-up in 2023 but failed to perform well in 2024, standing at No. 9. With Wade in the coaching team, the side is looking for a strong comeback in IPL 2025.
