India’s rising pace star, Mayank Yadav, is staying grounded amidst talks of a potential T20 World Cup spot, emphasizing his dedication to performing well for Lucknow in IPL 2024. With an impressive start for the Super Giants, Mayank’s blistering pace has caught the attention of fans and experts alike, sparking hopes for a bright future in Indian cricket.
“I don’t have comments about that (people saying about T20 World Cup chances). But, my performances have been good. So I am very happy. I want to focus on the present and keep thinking about this IPL season,” Mayank said.
The 21-year-old sensation made history in the IPL by clinching Player of the Match awards in his first two appearances, showcasing his talent and potential. Notably, he set a new record for the fastest ball of the season, clocking 155.8 kph in a scintillating display against Punjab, followed by an equally impactful performance against RCB, where he claimed three crucial wickets.
Mayank further raised the bar by breaking his own record, bowling at an astonishing 156.7 kph against RCB in Bengaluru. “It is a natural ability. From a very young age, I have been able to bowl pace. I have been able to groom that skill. I have been fortunate to have good people around me, telling what I need to improve and where I lack at various stages of my journey. I have listened to them and been able to improve my game,” he said.
