Melbourne Renegades Women created history in the Women’s Big Bash League 2024/25 (WBBL 2024/25) encounter against the hosts Adelaide Strikers Women by successfully chasing the highest target in the competition history.

After Renegades captain Hayley Matthews chose to field first at Adelaide, Strikers scored 185/8 in 20 overs. Opener Smriti Mandhana (40 off 25 balls) and captain Tahila McGrath (49 off 24 balls) had important roles in the innings along with Orla Prendergast’s late cameo (24 off 12 balls).

While five out of seven Renegades bowlers took wickets, captain Hayley Matthews (2/24) was the only bowler to claim more than one wicket.
