The Melbourne Test has reached the thrilling fifth day, where the hosts Australia are desperate to secure the series by winning it, and the visitors India are slowly looking to the draw result. While Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal was frustrating the hosts along with Rishabh Pant, Aussie left-arm fast bowler Mitchell Starc brought the bail-switching trick.

The Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 is in an interesting position as the series is level at 1-1 before the last day of the ongoing fourth Test in Melbourne. Thanks to late partnerships in their second innings, Australia set a challenging 340-run fourth innings target for the visitors India in the Melbourne Test.

In the fourth innings of the Melbourne Test, the visitors India lost their first three wickets for just 33 runs. In a troubled situation, opener Yashasvi Jaiswal and the wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant were handling the situation very calmly.

Bail switching moment between Mitchell Starc and Yashasvi Jaiswal

While Jaiswal frustrated the Aussies as the 22-year-old became a strong wall for the hosts’ victory, the left-arm fast bowler Mitchell Starc brought the bail-switching trick, which the Indian players have done in their tricky period in recent Test matches.

After Starc switched the bails off the wickets in the non-striker end, the non-striker end batter Jaiswal brought back the bails in their previous positions.

Marnus Labuschagne lost his wicket after bail-switch tricks in the Brisbane Test

In this Test series, we have already seen one lucky bail-switching moment for Team India, where Mohammed Siraj switched the bail and Marnus Labuschagne switched back those bails during the second day of the Brisbane Test. In the very next over, Nitish Kumar Reddy took Labuschagne’s wicket as the former Indian captain Virat Kohli grabbed a good catch at slip.

At the tea of the fifth day of the Melbourne Test, India were battling at 112/3, where Jaiswal was not out at 63 runs off 159 balls and Pant was not out at 28 off 93 balls.
