Amol Kale, President of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), has passed away due to a cardiac arrest in the USA. He was watching the India vs Pakistan match live from the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York, alongside MCA office bearers on Sunday night. Kale was known to be a close aide of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Accompanying him in New York were MCA Secretary Ajinkya Naik and Apex Council member Suraj Samat.

At 47 years old, Kale became the MCA president after defeating former India and Mumbai cricketer Sandip Patil in the elections held in October 2022. During his tenure, the MCA made significant decisions, including the initiative to match the BCCI match fee for all its red-ball players for the upcoming 2024-25 season.

Kale, a prominent businessman in the state, assumed the role of MCA president in October 2022 and served for 19 months. Although originally from Nagpur, the headquarters of the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA), he had been settled in Mumbai for over a decade and was involved in various business ventures.

Kale, who held a BE in Electrical Engineering from Nagpur University, was the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of J K Solutions Private Limited and Arpita Enterprises.

Although he had not completed two years as MCA president, Kale was widely praised for the MCA’s decision to equalize the match fees for Mumbai cricketers with those offered by the BCCI. Under his leadership, the MCA organized numerous international matches at Wankhede Stadium, including the India vs. New Zealand Test and the 2023 World Cup matches.

According to MCA sources, they are still awaiting details from the office-bearers who were accompanying him in New York.
