The Mumbai Cricket Association are giving their groundstaff one Lakh Rupees for their efforts during the IPL. With the entire group stage in Mumbai and Pune, the ground staff is going through some extra work. They were on the field for longer hours with more games to look after and ensured that the ground was in neat condition throughout the season. The Wankhede Stadium, Brabourne Stadium, and DY Patil Stadium are the one in games. Additionally, the Brabourne Stadium is a practice stadium that is regularly in use by IPL teams.
Through the IPL, working nightshift became the norm. With continuous games, the groundstaff worked efficiently to ensure the pitch and outfield were ready for the next day. With a high volume of games in the same ground, the pitch tends to wear and get tired. The outfield too gets trodden on a lot and will become uneven and slow over time. However, the effort given by the ground staff ensured none of that happens and the ground is in neat condition for each and every game.
During the IPL, the Mumbai Cricket Association did its part in assisting the ground staff. They got into a deal with Cadbury and took care of stay and travel for the groundstaff. Earlier, the BCCI provided an award of its own to the ground staff. They awarded 1.25 crores to the groundstaff and curators across the stadiums in use for the tournament. Now, the Mumbai Cricket Association is giving its own reward. With Curators staying in the stadium through the night and fighting relentless schedules, the reward is a well-deserved one.

The fact that the tournament is in April-May makes their efforts more respectable. The heat in Mumbai at that stage is very oppressive, and working in those conditions can get very tiring. Maintaining pitches is tough as well in the heat, with the pitch drying out faster and wearing out easily. The ground staff, however, were swift. They ensured the surfaces remained similar throughout the tournament.
