Through its subsidiary RISE Worldwide, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has purchased a 49% share of the franchise Oval Invincibles of The Hundred, strengthening their global footprint in cricket. The deal is subject to customary approvals and is significant to MI’s expansion, adding to their already existing franchise network across various leagues.
An alliance has been made with Surrey County Cricket Club (CCC):
The Surrey County Cricket Club will retain the 51% share of the Oval Invincibles, which helps to maintain a strong local presence in the ownership structure. Commenting on this, the Chair of Surrey CCC, Oli Slipper, has shared that “We wanted the best partner to keep Surrey at the forefront of English cricket, and in Mumbai Indians, we have found exactly that. Their success in the IPL and global cricket, combined with RIL’s business expertise, will help both Surrey and our Hundred team thrive on and off the field.”
Surrey County Cricket Club have today announced that Reliance Industries Limited through its subsidiary, RISE Worldwide, is the club’s preferred partner for The Hundred team when its ownership transfers from ECB to Surrey CCC at the end of 2025.

With this acquisition, Mumbai Indians now has seven teams in five countries and four continents:
Each team has won at least one title, with MI Cape Town being the recent winner of the SA20 2025 title.

The Future of Oval Invincibles:
The Oval Invincibles dominated, both the male and female team of The Hundred have been claiming consecutive titles. Due to MI's backing and the local help of Surrey, the franchise will grow with the result. This is a major step towards the long-term vision for Mumbai Indians to become a truly global cricket powerhouse, bringing together Indian and English cricket in ways never seen before.
