The New Zealand Champions Trophy campaign starts tomorrow ahead of it there comes drastic news. Already New Zealand camp is facing a series of injuries to their main players like Rachin Ravindra who took a blow on his face while attempting a catch against Pakistan.
His participation in the Champions Trophy is too bit of a concern, though physio had tented it may take time so the question mark is still on his fitness. The news yet dented they received another blow stating Lokie Ferguson is out of the Champions Trophy due to a hamstring injury.
Lokie Ferguson Setback And Jamison Entry
Lokie Ferguson got injured playing for Dessert Vipers in ILT20. He got an injury in the hamstring and was seen limping off against Dubai Capitals but it was said that he would be recovered by Champions Trophy. He skipped the Tri-Nation series so as not to prolong the injury even though head coach Stead updated that he would be recovered by the Champions Trophy commences.

During a warm-up game against Afghanistan, Lokie Ferguson felt the same discomfort to his right foot which was a clear indication that Lokie Ferguson would not be able to participate more in the Champions Trophy. Kyle Jamison has been announced as the replacement for him. Jamison is mainly considered for his pacy and bounce deliveries because of the height he possesses which can give stability to the New Zealand side.
A Pro-Active Approach
New Zealand has shown a proactive approach entering before this mega event. Though Lokie is known for his firey deliveries for the moment he is out now, Jamison provides an all-round option too. Kyle Jamison last played his ODI match in 2023 after that he was too ruled out from the New Zealand side for 10 months due to a stress fracture in his back.
Kyle Jamison made his comeback by playing domestic matches which propelled him more to gain his confidence. Jamison has the advantage of bouncing the ball enough which is considered quite effective in Pakistan. Head coach Stead has complete confidence in Jamison that he can shine in this tournament. Ferguson is the second pacer after Ben Sears who was replaced by Jacob Duffy who is like of like to him.
New Zealand will start their Champions Trophy campaign against the title winners Pakistan, they would like to repeat the same performance that they did a few days ago by beating Pakistan in the series final.
