After 48.1 overs of play, the second women’s ODI between Bangladesh and New Zealand was called off due to rain in Napier.

Bangladesh batted first, and after rain reduced the game to 44 overs per side, they batted through to reach 157 for 7. In response, New Zealand’s captain Sophie Devine was run out after just 4.1 overs before the clouds opened and forced an abandonment.

In the fifth over of their innings, Bangladesh lost Dilara Akter to Hayley Jensen, but Sharmin Akhter and Fargana Hoque put up some much-needed resistance. The two held post for 13.5 overs, adding 36 runs for the subsequent wicket, before Hannah Rowe disposed of Sharmin for 16. Bangladesh lost Hoque and Lata Mondal to Fran Jonas and Nigar Sultana to Nigar Sultana as a result of her wicket.

After that, Ritu Moni and Fahima Khatun dug in. They put together a stand of 49 runs for the sixth wicket. Fahima had 25 hits in her innings, but Moni had the most runs scored with 32, hitting a six and a four. Despite the fact that the two fell within three balls late in the innings, they ensured that Bangladesh completed their allotted number of overs.

After winning the first ODI by eight wickets, New Zealand takes a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series. They had previously won the 3-0 T20I series. On Saturday, Hamilton will host the third and final One-Day International.
