Virat Kohli has yet another sparkling feather in his already ornamented IPL career after becoming the first-ever cricketer to have hit 1000 boundaries in the Indian Premier League history. The milestone was achieved in Match 24 of IPL 2025 when Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) hosted Delhi Capitals (DC) at the historic M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Thursday, April 10.

The 36-year-old Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) icon required only two boundaries to reach a significant career milestone and wasted little time achieving it. Displaying his trademark composure and confidence, he reached the landmark within the first four overs of the match. The record-setting moment came in style as he launched a towering six off Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel, igniting celebrations among fans both at the stadium and around the globe. The powerful shot not only etched his name deeper into the record books but also reaffirmed his unmatched legacy in the sport, sending a wave of excitement through the cricketing world.

The legendary India batter now has 721 fours and 279 sixes, taking his overall IPL boundaries to 1000, a record no other batsman has reached. The next best on the list is former India opener Shikhar Dhawan with 920, followed by Australian veteran David Warner with 899. Having registered more than 8000 IPL runs, Kohli already stands at the head of the all-time run-scorers' list in the tournament. His run-hunger and consistency have been the league's hallmark all these years, and his run-scoring streak doesn't show any signs of abating any time soon. The ex-India and RCB skipper is also reaching for more T20 records. If he scores a fifty here, it will be his 100th fifty in T20s, making him only the second player to do so behind Warner. In another record watch, Kohli is only three sixes behind Rohit Sharma (282) to become second on the all-time IPL six-hitters' list, behind Chris Gayle (357) only.

With regards to team news, DC captain Axar Patel came out on top in the toss and chose to field first. The visiting side reinstated Ashutosh Sharma and Faf du Plessis into the playing XI by dropping Sameer Rizvi and Abhishek Porel. RCB, for their part, played the same XI they featured against Mumbai Indians.
