In the first ODI of the three-match series at Karachi on Monday, Pakistan’s Usama Mir made a memorable debut by dismissing New Zealand captain Kane Williamson with a brilliant delivery.

During Monday’s One Day International (ODI) series opener between the Black Caps and Babar Azam-led Pakistan in Karachi, New Zealand captain Kane Williamson was simply beguiled by debutant Usama Mir. In the first one-day international of the three-match series at the National Stadium, Babar-led Pakistan faced Williamson-led New Zealand after the two-match Test series ended in a tie.

The Green Army announced Usama’s debut in the first one-day international before Babar won the toss in the series opener and Pakistan chose to bowl. At the Karachi National Stadium, leg spinner Mir received his one-day international cap from Pakistan head coach and spin-bowling legend Saqlain Mushtaq after making his debut in the opener against New Zealand. In the end, Mir had a big impact right away when the leg-spinner beat the New Zealand captain in the 14th over of the innings.

Mir bowled a beautiful delivery to get rid of Williamson, who was stunned by his shocking dismissal.

Williamson took a long way back to the pavilion after Mir’s leg-break managed to beat his bat and hit the bails. Social media users have also paid attention to Williamson’s notable reaction to his dismissal. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) also shared a video of Mir taking his first ODI wicket on social media.

“A brilliant start to Usama Mir’s ODI career! Kane Williamson is Usama’s maiden ODI wicket,”

the Real PCB captioned its post on Instagram.
