Pakistan Super League 2022: Cricketwinner’s Team of the Tournament

The Pakistan Super League has come to an end and as always the Pakistan Super League provided had lots of talent on display. With the tournament finally coming to an end let us look at Cricketwinner’s Pakistan Super League Team of the Tournament.

Fakhar Zaman

With 588 runs at a strike-rate of 152.72 Fakhar Zaman had a dream season in this season of the Pakistan Super League. He showed that an aggressive opener can be consistent, and is easily the best batter of the season. His performance for the Lahore Qalandars have been crucial through the season and he is the rightfully the first opening option on the list.

Mohammad Rizwan (C), (WK)

Although the Sultans stumbled in the final hurdle, Rizwan and his team were easily the most dominant through the tournament. He was consistent with the bat, making it easier for the finishers, and was very good as a leader, leading from the front and building a solid line-up in the Pakistan Super League.\.

Shoaib Malik

40 years old but still dominating, Shoaib Malik finished with 401 runs this season at an average of 44. He struck well and was aggressive with a rate of 137. Through the tournament, Malik floated around the batting line-up and also chipped in with the ball occasionally. He couldn’t carry Zalmi to the trophy, but was really good while he fought.

Mohammad Hafeez

Another veteran who makes it to the eleven is Mohammad Hafeez. He did well under pressure and kept putting his hand up at crucial moments for the Lahore Qalandars. In the Pakistan Super League finals, with his teams struggling, Hafeez played a blinder to take his team to 180 and then bowled four economical overs to give his team the advantage.

Azam Khan

Azam Khan is slowly developing into a strong finisher and already has a reputation for hitting some big shots. He batted in the middle-order through the series and came up with some strong cameos through the season for United.

Tim David

While Azam Khan takes the spot as a finisher, it is hard to ignore Tim David who comes in next. He scored less than Azam in the season but batted with a better average and strike-rate. He is consistent and deadly, leaving a huge impact on the game as he showed through the season.

David Wiese

The Namibian all-rounder was a key name through the tournament and put his hands up at key moments with both bat and ball. He played some nice cameos in the end overs and bowled very well in the death through the season for the Qalandars.

Shadab Khan

If there is one player who deserved the man of the tournament award more than Rizwan it would be Shadab Khan. Khan had a dream season doing everything with both bat and ball. He was everywhere. He took 19 wickets to finish second and scored 268 runs to finish tenth on the leading run-scorers chart. He contributed in every aspect, and is showing his value as one of the best all-rounders in Pakistan.

Rashid Khan

For a good part of the season Rashid Khan was the leading wicket-taker despite playing only nine games. He may have finished on top of the list if he played the other games but unfortunately had to go on national duty. His selection in the eleven is a challenging one as Imran Tahir did a brilliant job as well, and fell behind marginally on average. Tahir did take more wickets though and could well be on this list having played the way he did in the Pakistan Super League this season.

Shaheen Shah Afridi

If Mohammad Rizwan led from the front the same could be said about Shaheen Shah Afridi. The Qalandars skipper broke the notion of a fast bowling captain succeeding in T20 Cricket. He took wickets, finished as the leading wicket-taker and also had an incredible performance with the bat. He contributed in every aspect and was a key member in the final as he sent Sultans spiraling to defeat.

Zaman Khan

The Lahore Qalandars developed a good fast bowling unit this season with 20 year old Zaman Khan coming out as one of the finds of the tournament. He bowled with spectacular pace and kept finding ways to take wickets. He was erratic at times, but his wicket-taking ability helped as he took 18 wickets in this season, and hurt the Sultans early in their chase during the Pakistan Super League Finals.
