The Pakistan Super League (PSL) is making important changes in 2025, including changes to the draft schedule and tournament dates. These changes are made because of some unavoidable reasons and some planned decisions to improve and adjust the league's setup for the future.

The first change is that the draft, originally scheduled for January 11 in Gwadar, Balochistan, has been rescheduled to January 13 due to logistical challenges. The new venue for the draft is Huzuri Bagh, located near Lahore Fort.

The second major change is a shift in the tournament schedule. Traditionally held in February and March, PSL 2025 will now take place in April and May. This adjustment was made because Pakistan will be hosting the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 during its usual February-March window. While this change aligns the PSL with the Indian Premier League (IPL) schedule, the PCB remains optimistic that it will continue to attract top international talent, especially players not participating in the IPL.

This year’s PSL draft has attracted over 80 international players, making it one of the most exciting drafts in recent years. Some big names include Australia’s former opener David Warner, New Zealand’s experienced pacer Tim Southee, and Bangladeshi stars Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman. Their participation is expected to add more star power to the league, which has always been known for its competitive cricket.

Structure and Process of the Player Draft

The Player Draft is a pivotal event where the six franchises build their squads. Players are selected across various categories, with the Platinum category being the most prestigious.
