Karachi Kings won the toss and decided to bowl first. The pitch of National Bank Stadium in Karachi had very little to offer for the bowlers. It was raining runs in Karachi. Multan Sultans went off to a flying start with the help of their slipper Mohammad Rizwan. In his first PSL 10 innings, Rizwan gifted his team a ton—105 not out off 63 balls. Pakistan's Kamran Ghulam played a quickfire 36, facing only 19 balls, followed by a swashbuckling 17-ball 44* run innings by Michael Bracewell.
James Vince made the match more exciting with his smashing batting ability; the English batter scored 101 in 43. He was perfectly accompanied by Khushdil Shah, who got 60 in 37 balls. Before these two match-turning innings, Tim Seifert in the top order set the tone for Karachi Kings with a 16-ball, 32-run knock. David Warner, in his first PSL match, scored only 12.
Mohammad Rizwan (Skipper of Multan Sultans): "Bowling in the second innings was tough due to the dew. There was a lot of swing in the first innings and we could have scored around 250. We didn't execute well with the ball. The way Kings batted was brilliant. We could have done much better in the middle phase with the ball."
David Warner (Karachi Kings captain): "It is an amazing achievement. We want to play with a never-say-die attitude and James Vince and Khushdil Shah showed that today. 200 looked par but we were positive with the bat and that was important.*
