At a press conference before the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10, the Pakistani cricket team was questioned regarding their consistent failure in big run chases. Pakistan captain Babar Azam was specifically asked about why the team could not deal with high-pressure chases, a long-standing problem that has annoyed fans as well as analysts.

Babar, never one to show nerves, was reluctant to answer the question directly. He addressed Mohammad Rizwan instead, anticipating that his colleague would shed light. But Rizwan, too, did not seem ready, and there was complete silence in the room. The silence showed that there had been no clarity in the team's leadership on how to solve their chasing issues, which have long haunted Pakistan in pressure games across formats.
It was Shaheen Shah Afridi who came in to save the day. The left-arm pacer, infamous for his aggressive bowling, showed maturity beyond his years by taking charge. He laid stress on the need for teamwork, saying that success in chases is not all about batting but also about bowling better to leave achievable targets. It was good to hear from him too, as he expressed willingness to address the shortcomings we as a team have when it comes to assigning team shortcomings to individual blame.

Shaheen's act was praised by all as a kind act, and you could tell how much he has matured as a player who understands the nature of a team game. Although his bowling action has been questioned of late, this act highlighted his leadership qualities. The press conference on April 10, 2025, unveiled the issues that Pakistan is dealing with as they prepare for PSL 10 but also spoke about Shaheen's eagerness to perform when it really counts. When the tournament finally rolls around, the fans will want this solidarity to be converted into improved performance on the pitch.
