Tensions are rising within the Punjab Kings camp as reports from Cricbuzz suggest that a rift has developed between franchise co-owners Preity Zinta and Mohit Burman, who hold significant stakes in the team.
It is reported that Preity Zinta has obtained a restraining order against Mohit Burman to prevent him from selling a portion of his shares to a third party. The Bollywood actress has allegedly filed an appeal in the Chandigarh High Court regarding this issue.
Preity Zinta owns a 23% stake in the Punjab Kings through KPH Dream Cricket Private Limited, while Mohit Burman holds the largest share at 48%. Ness Wadia, the third co-owner, also holds a 23% stake, with Karan Paul owning the remaining shares.
In recent weeks, rumors have circulated that Mohit Burman, who is linked to the Dabur company, plans to sell 11.5% of his stake to an undisclosed party, a move that has reportedly angered Preity Zinta.
However, Mohit Burman has denied these allegations, stating, "I don't have any plans to sell my shares of Punjab Kings," in a conversation with Cricbuzz.

According to the report, Preity Zinta claims that Burman, who holds approximately 48% of the franchise's shares and serves on the board of directors, has prompted her to seek legal intervention. The petition seeks interim measures and directions in light of their disputes.
While details remain unclear, Cricbuzz reports suggest that Burman cannot sell his stake to an outside party without first offering it to the existing group of promoters. The stake can only be sold externally if the current promoters decline to purchase it.
As of now, neither Preity Zinta nor Ness Wadia have commented on the matter. However, Cricbuzz reports indicate that the case is scheduled for a hearing on August 20.

Off the field, the franchise is also facing challenges, as their on-field performances have been subpar since the league's inception. Despite reaching the final and semifinal once, the team has struggled to make a significant impact. Reports suggest that Punjab Kings may be considering an Indian coach to replace Trevor Bayliss ahead of the upcoming major auction.
