The 25-year-old New Zealand cricketer Rachin Ravindra has once again produced his familiar impressive batting performance in the second Semi-final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 against South Africa. With his second century in the tournament, Ravindra created a new record for New Zealand in the competition history.

During the second Semi-final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, where New Zealand and South Africa are facing each other at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner chose to bat first.

ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Rachin Ravindra recorded two centuries

Blackcaps' opener Rachin Ravindra provided a controlled start for his team. After he had an opening partnership of 48 runs with Will Young, Ravindra had a dominating 164-run second wicket partnership with the former New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson. Both Ravindra and Williamson hit centuries to set up a strong path for the Blackcaps to the big first innings total. Before losing his wicket in the 34th over, Ravindra scored 108 off 10 balls with the help of 13 fours and one six.

It was Rachin Ravindra's second century in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which was also his fifth ODI century, all recorded in the ICC ODI tournaments. While he missed out on the tournament opener due to the recovery process of his head injury, he made a comeback in the team during Kiwi's second game of their Group A fixture against Bangladesh. Chasing down the 237-run target in Ralwapindi, while New Zealand were struggling at 15/2 and 72/3, the no.4 batter Ravindra slammed a match-winning century. The left-handed batter scored 112 off 105 balls with 12 fours and one six, as New Zealand comfortably won that match by five wickets.

With his second hundred in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, Ravindra became the first New Zealand batter and eighth overall batter to record more than one century in a single edition of the ICC Champions Trophy. During the 2006 edition, where the defending champions West Indies finished as the runners-up, Chris Gayle slammed three centuries, including one century against Bangladesh during the Qualifying match, which was also a part of the main competition.
